It operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction, where a rotating magnetic field generated by the stator induces a current in the rotor, producing torque without the need for direct electrical connections to the rotor. The rotating magnetic field induces currents in the rotor conductors, generating a torque that causes the rotor to turn at a speed slightly less than the synchronous speed (hence the term "asynchronous").
